Guardian Angel

The Guardian Angel Fund is designed to help shelter pets with serious medical issues that cannot be treated at the shelter clinic.  Through your generous donations we are able to provide medical care to adoptable pets who have found their way to the shelter through no fault of their own.  We are very lucky to be so close to Athens and be able to utilize the top notch services of the UGA Veterinary Hospital. 

The inaugural member of the Guardian Angel Fund was Big Red, a beautiful dark red bloodhound with Entropian (eyelids that turn inward causing irritation and eventually permanent eye damage).  Read more about Big Red here.

Currently we do not have a specific shelter pet in need of services.  However if we can put money in the fund now we'll be ready for the next "shelter pet" that needs surgery, specialist veterinary services or long-term medical care.  Whatever money is in the Guardian Angel Fund will be rolled over to the next identified pet and we'll begin another round of fundraising especially for that pet if funds are still needed.
