M.O.A.S Celebrates National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month in October.
The observation of Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month brings attention to the plight of homeless animals in every community and the unfortunate fact that only 20 to 30 percent of cats and dogs are adopted from shelters and rescue groups.
"There are 3 to 4 million dogs living in shelters nationwide who would make a fantastic addition to anybody's family, all they need is a second chance. During Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter encourages everyone to visit our shelter, adopt one of the so many amazing animals and receive a free T-shirt showing your support. Help us spread the word to potential pet owners to make pet adoption their first option.
During the month of September alone the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter preformed over 150 spay and neuters, ultimately preventing 1000's more unwanted puppies, dogs, cats and kittens in your community. We are here to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals and the best way to do that is preventing them.
Show your support too. Spay or neuter your animals or come adopt one. All shelter animals receive age appropriate vaccinations, spay or neuter and a registered microchip, which is included in the adoption fee. Puppy and dog adoptions are only $85. Kitten and cat adoptions are $75. All senior citizens qualify for a reduced adoption fee of $65.
